What is Dry-Fire?

At its core, dry-fire means practicing with your firearm without using live ammunition. It’s a trusted technique used by everyone from first-time gun owners to elite competitive shooters.

Why? Because it lets you build critical skills —like trigger control, sight alignment, and draw speed—safely, conveniently, and without the cost of range time or ammo.

What about recoil?

Dry-fire training is intended to supplement your range time- not replace it. Recoil does matter! But for your first shot...(which counts the most) you can practice mastering aim, trigger control and grip with dry-fire. Master the fundamentals with dry-fire, then put those skills to the test at the range.

Isn't it bad for your gun to dry-fire?

Short answer- nope. When you train with Strikeman, there is a laser cartridge in the chamber that is specifically designed to protect your firing pin with a soft, rubber backing.

Why are you shooting at a phone? What's the app for?

For decades, no one needed an app to dry-fire. They used snap caps or an empty chamber to work on their skills- and that works just fine. The Strikeman app takes it to the next level by using your device's camera to pick up on the laser shots and show you exactly how you're doing.
